Mount Kailash Tours

Holy Mt Kailash is the most sacred destination for both Hindu and Buddhist religious people and it is considered also the center of the universe. Mt. Kailash has the unique distinction of being the world's most adored holy place and nobody attempted to put their foot print on the top of holy Mount Kailash. Just did Kora 52 Km long walking round by visitors and devotees. Hindus believe Mt. Kailash to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Shiva is a character of apparent contradictions. According to legend, immortal Shiva lives at Kailash where he spends his time practicing yogic austerities, making joyous love with his divine consort, Parbati, and smoking ganja, the sacred herb known in the west as marijuana.

For a Hindu, to make the arduous pilgrimage to Kailash and have the darshan (divine view) of Shiva's abode is to attain release from the clutches of ignorance and delusion. Firmly establishing Buddhism in its place while the Buddha is believed to have magically visited Kailash in the 5th century BC, the religion of Buddhism only entered Tibet, via Nepal and India, in the 7th century AD. Pilgrims to Kailash after the difficult journey getting there are then confronted with the equally arduous task of circumambulating the sacred peak. The circuit around the holy mountain-clockwise for the Buddhists, counter-clockwise for Bon adherents is known as a Kora or Parikrama and normally takes three days. Pilgrimage to this great sacred mountain and magical scenery is the most precious of pilgrimage for both Tibetan and Indian people, a journey they hope to experience at least once in a lifetime.

Most pilgrims to Kailash will also take a short plunge in the nearby, highly sacred Lake Manosaravar. The word 'manas' means mind or consciousness; the name Manosaravar means Lake of Consciousness and Enlightenment. (It also signifies the spirit of Brahma). The circumference of Mansarovar is 88-km, its depth is 90m and total area is 320-sq-kms. It looks unbelievably fascinating on moonlit nights. The circumference of Rakshas Tal, also known as "Ravan Kund", is 122-km. A 6-km long natural channel "Gangachhu" - connects Manas with Rakshas Tal. Most of the Indian pilgrims will also take a ritual bath in the highly sacred Lake Manosaravar nearby.
