Saga Dawa festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 4th Tibetan month and is one of the most important religious festival celebrated in Tibet. Saga means fourth and Dawa refers to month in Tibetan. It therefore occupied an important position in the Tibetan society held each year on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar.

This auspicious day coincides with three important events in Buddha's life namely his birth, nirvana and par nirvana (death). Since the Saga Dawa festival falls on the holiest month of the Tibetan calendar, it is believed that good deeds and prayers are multiplied thousand fold during this event. So we can see everyone immersed in prayers and trying to appease the gods. Saga Dawa festival has been celebrated by the Tibetan Buddhists for past thousand years or so.

Saga Dawa festival has been celebrated in Mt. Kailash region, The Tarboche flag pole replacing exercise is also an interesting event that takes place during the Saga Dawa festival. As people from all parts of Tibet gather here for this annual event, they bring small prayer flags to attach to the big flag that comes up with the combined help of the onlookers that come to witness the event.

Day 01 May 27: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02 May 28: Briefing and preparing Tibet visa and tour arrangement
Day 03 May 29: Drive to Nyalam. Overnight at hotel / Guest house or Camp
Day 04 May 30: Rest day at Nyalam for Acclimatization. Overnight hotel / G house/ Camp
Day 05  May 31: Drive from Nyalam to Saga   overnight at Guest house / Camp
Day 06 June 1: Drive from  Saga to Paryang  - Overnight Guest house / Camp
Day 07 June 2: Drive from Paryang  To Mansarovar Lake O/n Guest house or Camp
Day 08 June 3: Drive to Tharboche O/n  Camp
Day 09 June 4: Attend to the Saga Dawa at Tarboche – Camp (Festival Day) Full moon.
Day 10 June 5: Start to the Kora, night camp at Dira Puk - Camping
Day 11 June 6: Continue Parikarma over Dolma La Pass & Zutul Puk - Camping
Day 12 June 7: End Parikarma & Drive from Darchen to Hor Chu. Camp or Guest House
Day 13 June 8: Drive from Hor Chu to Saga, night at guest house or Camp
Day 14 June 9: Drive from Saga to Zhangmu, night at guest house or Camp
Day 15 June 10: Drive from Zhangmu to Kathmandu.  night at guest house
Day 16 June 11: Transfer to airport for departure.
